“By delegating tasks, you actually give away control... though you as business owner or manager still bear the consequences (it is YOUR business, suffering a profit loss or you as manager getting fired if things did go wrong!). Now, this could be a good thing but it could also affect your business negatively. The main thing to remember is that, when delegating tasks, you need to have business policies in place, stipulating who is responsible for the task, why the person(s) is responsible for the task AND, very important, the procedures to follow and the standards to comply with in order to perform the task.” - Michiel Jonker

“Managers should try to get the right people in the right places - especially those employees who are in charge of important business controls. We need to keep in mind the talents and capabilities of our employees; some people are simply not fit for certain positions and tasks (even if we tell them how to do it by providing them with the necessary procedures)! We need to select the right person for the right position... especially those employees who are in charge of important controls that have been put in place to protect our profits.” - Michiel Jonker
